Real Customer Case: Biodegradable PBAT+Starch Compounding Project in Southeast Asia

A biodegradable material producer in Thailand used conventional extrusion equipment to compound PBAT with high starch loading for compostable packaging granules. Their old machine suffered severe volatile residue, uneven filler dispersion, frequent yellowing of pellets and scrap rate up to 7~9%. The inconsistent melt index made it hard to supply stable raw materials to local film blowing factories.

Our engineering team designed a customized 65mm co-rotating twin screw pelletizing line with optimized screw combination, dual-stage high vacuum devolatilization and multi-gravimetric side feeding system. Before shipment, we completed full material trial in our factory with the customer’s raw material samples.

After on-site installation and commissioning:

Scrap rate dropped from 7–9% down to 1.8–2.5%
Melt index fluctuation controlled within ±1.2 g/10min
Pellet yellowing issue eliminated, stable continuous operation 24/7
Energy consumption reduced by nearly 20% compared with their previous machine The customer later placed repeat orders for two additional production lines to expand their biodegradable granule capacity.
